Omoide Yokocho, otherwise known as Memory Lane, is a small and narrow street near JR Shinjuku station lined with tiny and cramped (and i say that in an endearing way) restaurants and izakayas. In the evenings it’s usually quite packed with business men and colleagues enjoying some yakitori and beers among other interesting dishes. It’s a great place to go, not just for the photo opportunity but to enjoy a social evening in one of the many places lining the street. I found the people to be quite friendly and curious leading to some interesting conversations. Lots of delicious dishes to check out and no shortage of options.
I hope to spend a number of evenings here with a friend or two as well as by myself both for the sake of practicing some Japanese with strangers and so I can run around documenting some of the scenes and adventures.
