My Private Tokyo – Making Accessories in Japan

Today I got the very special experience of covering two very talented members of a friend’s family and some of their craftsmanship in making a number of popular accessories here in Japan. We had set out on a  project to help cover and document some of the environment as well as work that they do. It ended up being a unique opportunity to see the machining industry side on the other side of the world as well as a chance to appreciate talented individuals at their craft.

In my younger days I spent part of my working life working within machine shops and it’s always stayed with me as a craft that when really refined and payed attention to can be home to some beautiful results. Regardless of the work, seeing people who are proficient at what they do is always inspiring.

More to come soon from this project.
